I've just bought a Kindle Fire HD8 Plus and can't seem to download Firefox so I can sync the device. When I try it says "currently unavailable". Why would a download by currently unavailable?

Chosen solution

Hi Betsy, Firefox for Android is distributed via the Google Play app. Amazon operates its own store instead. Many years ago, Mozilla withdrew Firefox from Amazon's store because Amazon added its own code to all the apps.

In the old days, there was a way to "sideload" Firefox for Android on a Kindle Fire tablet, but perhaps due to reduced interest, and the fact that it's not a supported configuration, this article is not being kept up-to-date: Installing Firefox for Android on an Amazon Kindle Fire.
