I access Hotmail through Thunderbird. I noticed that the Junk file does not show the number of new junk emails in that file. If I access the file then the number of new junk emails appears next to Junk. I do not want to lose an important email if it has been mistakenly placed in the junk file. How do I correct this situation, so it shows the count of new junk emails.

Chosen solution

right click the folder, select properties and then turn on the option to always check the folder when getting new messages. The default does not update the trash or junk unless they are selected.
