Why won't Firefox work on Android phones? Always defaults to Google/Chrome so I can't login to apps and pages that only Firefox knows the passwords. How can I open apps and pages on Android phone using Firefox as default browser?

Also Firefox will not sync logins (passwords) to an Android phone (Google). Sync does not sync passwords to Android phones. Export logins will not transfer logins to Google/Chrome or Android phone. I have to email or text myself my passwords between my PC and phone in 2021 because Google is a bully, Firefox is a wuss and Chrome and Firefox won't talk to each other.

Hi

Do you have Firefox for Android set as the default browser app in the Android Settings on your device?

Do you have logins and passwords set to Sync in the Firefox Sync settings?

more options

Yes. Nevertheless, Google products always overrides those settings so that outdated, unsynced Google/Chrome logins and passwords are always the imposed default. I'm forced to go back to my PC and manually copy and paste my current passwords from Firefox, text or email them to myself, retrieve them from my Android phone and then copy and paste them into the phone browser, which is obviously not Firefox and not synced with anything if it never has a current password.

Hi

If you search in the Android Settings application for Default apps, what is listed as the default Browser app?

Take a wild guess.

If FF is the default browser, why does nothing open in FF? Why are Google logins autosaved and autofilled rather than FF? Why do pages I visit regularly on my PC via FF not know my saved password when I log on from my phone which has FF as default browser and sync turned on?

I'll tell you why... Because Google and Mozilla are yankin' our chains. That's why.

Just to clarify, is the issue that Firefox is not appearing as the default browser, or that your Google Account credentials are auto filling in Firefox for Android?

more options

Not "or" but "and".

Okay

So you have been able to confirm that Firefox for Android is set as the default browser on your Android device. You can also select the Opening links option at the bottom of the Default apps menu list to set options for Firefox for Android.

If you have entered user credentials for your Google Account and have not cleared the browsing history or logged out from that account you should expect them to be in place when next visiting a place that required a Google Account credentials.

Yes all that is done yet whenever I try to access my accounts on my phone, the saved password will not work because it's not the FF password I use on my PC but rather some ancient password that I haven't used in years. I'll reset the password with the current one only to have the same issue at next login. The "Opening Links" option is not as generous as you describe. It's either on or off and has no "options to set for Firefox for Android."

Google Chrome simply overrides Firefox. "Syncing" is obviously not working when passwords I have changed years ago keep coming up again and again.

Even tried json files and exporting csv files but everyone knows that doesn't work either.

Have you tried editing the saved password in Firefox for Android?
