When I click on the url line I get ten sites suggested.

How do I delete or add sites to this list please?

Hi, when you first click in the bar, before you type anything for Firefox to match, the drop-down shows shortcuts from the built-in Firefox Home / new tab page.

You have several options, including:

(1) Curate your shortcuts to be as useful as possible

This article has the steps for removing unwanted shortcuts and adding/pinning new ones where they will be helpful: Customize items on your Firefox New Tab page.

(2) Don't show those shortcuts in the address bar drop-down

There is a checkbox for that on the Preferences/Settings page. More info: Address bar autocomplete suggestions in Firefox ("How can I control what results the address bar shows me?" section)

Do either those help with your address bar drop-down?

I had actually come across that help page, but found it of no use. Hover on shortcuts? I could see no three dots. Recent Activity? Where’s that?

Anyway jscher2000 made me persevere.

Still no progress until …DUH!

I actually clicked on the new page tab – and, of course all was clear. It’s just I made no progress hovering around the ten lines in the url bar – well, surprise, surprise.

Many thanks.
