Until the installation of the latest version of Thunderbird (102.2.2) yesterday, I was able to sync contacts and calendar with Gmail with no problem using TbSync and gContactSync (I don't want to sync email messages). Now, nothing works!

If I go to the Tools->Add-ons and Themes page I am told that neither TbSync nor gContactSync is compatible. However, I then get advised to use the native CardDAV function in TB, but to do this I have to go to an option that doesn't seem to exist (Address Book->File->New->CardDAV Address book) to enter a URL which then allows connection to Gmail (I think!).

I am totally confused and sorely tempted to ditch Thunderbird altogether. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to synchronise with Gmail as I could do before?

Open the address book in TB. You should have a tab at the top of the address book for "New Address Book." Select the dropdown arrow next to that tab, and there is the option to "Add CardDAV Address Book."
