All of a sudden I can't send emails from Thunderbird. Even though the email is just a bit of text, I get a message saying that the size of the email exceeds the space available on the server. Our internet provider is Frontier, and I can send messages from Frontiermail. I call Frontier tech support, and got told that I didn't have space on my server, which makes no sense. Have any suggestions? I can get emails.

Hello

this seems a provider problem. Usually a Smtp server (the server which is sending mails on your behalf) don't need a lot of space to manage this task since incoming mails are deleted once they are transmitted. So a lack of space happens only in case of server trouble.

The only thing you can do at the Thunderbird level is turn on debugging and send a complete log to your provider to prove that their server is not working as it should. You can do that by setting mailnew.smtp.loglevel to 'All' in the Settings / General -> config editor (mind to click on the checkmark to validate), then open the Error console (Tools / Dev tools), and try to send a mail. Post the log here and it may allow someone to say if this indeed (as it looks to be) a mail provider issue.

Edit: the linked thread https://support.mozilla.org/tn/questions/1341238 seems to say that the server address is wrong (see linked Microsoft forum thread)
