sending emails
Can anybody PLEASE supply me with step by step instructions to reset my email outgoing account. I'm desperate, I'm not very tech minded.. I completely lost the ability to send emails from TB weeks ago, receiving is no problem. If I can't get good assistance, I will be forced to find another service. Thank you

Is this an Office365 account? If not, which mail provider, and what are your outgoing server settings?
Your question, no, not Office 365. My mail provider is "Spectrum/Charter/timewarner.rr". My outgoing server setting is: 587. I hope this will help you getting my outgoing mail service back. Again, I need step by step instructions. The last update a month ago or so, really screwed up what I had setup. Thank you
If it worked before an update, and you haven't changed any settings, I would suspect there's an antivirus app that is scanning outgoing mail, and the app is incompatible with the updated TB. Whatever app this is, the scanning of outgoing mail should be disabled. Better, if it's an app like Avast or AVG, remove it and use the built-in Windows Defender/Security.
In the meantime, you can use the webmail access from the Spectrum website.

out going worked up to a couple on weeks ago, after the auto update installed, it just stopped. I did just installed my renewal of Zone Alarm, Extreme Security New Gen. I've been in touch with them to see if something could have happened on renewal. will advise. I see there is another TB update, but not installed yet.
Just something to ponder. Your antivirus product certifies your system clean. That same product is scanning your outgoing mail for some purpose. What is that exactly?
Your provider will be telling you it is another layer of security. But how does a product suddenly find in an outgoing mail something they either it could not find on your system. That is supposing you were infected. It is not as if malware "just appears" it has to come from somewhere and it's first appearance on your system is not going to be your outgoing mail.
For the above reason, I do not scan outgoing mail. For that matter I do not scan mail at all, but that is not germane to this issue. Just turn off outgoing mail scanning in your anti virus product and see if that causes some change in your results.
You provide a port number for your outgoing mail. Clearly it is not complete. While it is the default port for outgoing mail, the server name it is submitted to is most important. Especially with Spectrum who have been very busy with takeovers and buyouts over the years.
Many who post here using older accounts have not updated the server names in a very long time and they are out of date. See https://support.mozilla.org/ro/questions/1264798?&mobile=0 as an example of that.
If you are in fact using a Charter email address. Are you using the server named mobile.charter.net as Spectrum advise?
If your address is one with these domains Brighthouse.com, bak.rr.com, bham.rr.com, cfl.rr.com, emore.rr.com, eufala.rr.com, indy.rr.com, mi.rr.com, panhandle.rr.com, tampabay.rr.com
Then the server name used is mail.brighthouse.com
If the mail domain end in rr.com and is not shown above or is twc.com the outgoing server is mail.twc.com
See the source at spectrum here https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/mobile-email-setup
I appreciate your response. I attempted to contact Zone Alarm, with no success. I can't find where to stop scanning outgoing mail. As far as I can find, everything is setup correctly. Now I'm not getting any incoming mail on TB, I've about had it. All my problems started with an automatic up date a month ago or so. Then when I renewed Zone Alarm the problems got worse and I can't contact them. Now TB has another update which I'm scarred to download. I wish I could find a way to revert back to the old TB and reestablish the layout the way I had it setup. Again, thank you
I got the original ZA Extreme Security reinstalled, still same problem, receive emails, can't send. I've asked ZA if they are blocking emails, no reply yet. When the auto update happened, I had to setup another account, just gives me duplicate emails. Can I delete the new one how and will cause any problems? Whatever I did, I'm not receiving or sending emails on the newest account. It seems the same setting are on both. I need this problem to be corrected. To reply to am email, I need to do it on my cell or tablet, which I have no problem, except a pain in the ass. I wish there was a way I could work with somebody directly, instead this messaging. Is there a way to start over without losing everything? (contacts, files, etc) Thank you, I appreciate your help
If you don't want to remove ZoneAlarm, at least temporarily, test its effect on TB by running Windows in safe mode, which bypasses startup apps like ZA.
It's possible to 'start over' by creating a new profile from Help/More Troubleshooting, about:profiles, but this is only recommended if you're comfortable with transferring local mail, contacts etc. manually between profiles.
My security software, Zone Alarm Extreme Security, has researched that it did nothing to stop me from emailing. See below, to figure out my problem to reestablish my sending emails. Please help me setup the outgoing configuration.

Do you have a VPN? Folk are signing up for them in droves in the USA and almost all of them result in inability to send mail as the Internet service providers in the USA block access to their mail servers from outside IP addresses.
What is VPN?Where do I find if I have it?

What is VPN?
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_private_network Or if you prefer https://www.ccleaner.com/knowledge/what-is-a-vpn-and-why-do-i-need-one
Where do I find if I have it?
No idea. There are a lot of vendors, and they are often bundled with security software. Including from Norton, Kaspersky and others. Mozilla even have one. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/products/vpn/
As far as I am aware Zone Alarm Extreme Security does not include one. but this information might help determine of you have one https://download.zonealarm.com/bin/inclient/ZA_HelpCenter/39628.htm
I attempted to update/download 102.6, but it failed. Can anybody please explain?? This is getting absolutely pain staking.
