The advice in that link is still correct, but you must access the View menu on the Calendar tab (see picture).

This is solved (THANK YOU!) but I should provide more detail.

I have hidden the Menu bar and have been using the little hamburger menu for a long while.

The 'Today Pane' view item is not one of the common functions in the mini-menu. :) You have to use the full text/icon menu toolbar to see this option.
