Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

See some reports that the Ask.com toolbar is causing the issue https://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=en...

If Safe Mode works and you have the Ask toolbar installed I recommend you uninstall it.
