It's normal for Mozilla Firefox to take a short amount of time to shutdown, as there can be significant amounts of data remaining to be saved to your profile. If it takes longer than a minute, there may be a problem with your profile. You can test this by creating a new Firefox profile and seeing if this resolves the problem. You can find more information about Firefox profiles at the Mozilla Firefox Profiles page, including how to move data from an old profile to the new one. Your profile isn't cleared when the browser is uninstalled and reinstalled which is why that may not have resolved this issue.
