Firefox automatically updates even though option is disabled
I just ran Firefox and it updated to version 3.6.6 even though I have the Automatic Updates option disabled. Any idea why? I am using the PortableApps Firefox. Can't say what version it was obviously, as it's now upated itself.

Do not confuse Windows Automatic Updates with Firefox updates. Windows Automatic Updates only updates Windows (and Microsoft Office, if you have elected to use Microsoft Update instead of Windows Update).
To set/check you settings for Firefox updates, see: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel#Update_tab Read the descriptions of the options under the panel image.

- NOTE: On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). I know the difference between Windows update and Firefox update thanks. I specifically stated in my post that it was Firefox that updated itself to version 3.6.6. Windows Update is disabled anyway.
I also know how to update plugins, and how to check and disable active processes/services. The problem is that Firefox updated itself when it is set not to in the options. This is the problem that I need resolved.
If it helps, I'm running XP Pro (SP3).
Yes, I have that same issue!!!! I'm SICK of Firefox just ignoring my wishes to not automatically download. Why put the option to disable if they're just going to do what they want to do anyway???
