For some reason the address bar doesn't show the page i'm currently on, only the page or search that i opened or performed last. The only way i can see the url information is if i click what i can only guess is the security info? (the section on the very left of the address bar that gives information regarding the security of the page you are visiting) Is this a common problem or is there something wrong with my version?

Personally, my issue came down to add ons. Specifically one called IE Tab.

Someone recommended putting Firefox into safe mode (click Help then Restart With Add ons Disabled) and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, restart into normal mode and disable all of your add ons and restart firefox. Then enable one add on and restart and see if it still works. Repeat this for add ons one at a time until you find the one that glitches the address bar and then think about removing it.
