Logitech remote programming has stopped working
Sorry if this falls into the "WEB PAGES" catagory, but I think it is more what is happening from that site, not the site itself/exactly.
I bought a Logitech Harmony 300 remote. I *COULD* program it ok.
Just recently I updated to 3.6.17 (I'm staying off 4 jsut now)
Anyway, now the computer and the logitech site see the remote being plugged in, but it won't update the programming.
I can't say it is Fire fox, but it is odd that I updated from 6.16 to 6.17 and it seemed to stop after the update.

Try it with Windows Internet Explorer, if you then have problems possibly the site or the software is not compatible with Firefox, but it will provide a work around for your problem.
If you also have problems with IE then it may be a problem with the site or the software and a forum discussing the Logitech product may be more likely to help.

John99,
Thanks. Problem: I don't have IE installed anymore, so it is kind of difficult.
What I have tried - alas to little/no avail - is my laptop and the FF on it.
It doesn't work there either. but I think that is becuase it is a very early firefox.
What I have also noticed just now:
The older version FINALLY got the upload thing fixed. When I try to upload files to GMAIL, or other sites, it fails and I have to use the "calssic uploader".
3.16 fixed that. Phew!
3.6.17 fails with it - again. ANNOYED!
So I am very suspicious that the logitech failuer is becuase of the update of FF.
How do I get back to 3.6.16?
Also, (to anyone)
I am searching other posts for how to "roll back" but when I try to post in them I am hit with a "you must log in first" then when I try, I get "ACCESS DENIED".
Brilliant!
It is relatively easy to roll back to another version, but there are some disadvantages, and as often the changes between the minor security releases are just that minor, I am not sure they would be the cause of your problem.
On the newest versions they are even trialling a method of switching between channels, which has a similar effect and is easy to do.
Normally it would probably be wise to retain IE on a Windows system, if it is genuine, because it is needed to get updates to some of the windows software and OS. It may be worth trying to reinstall IE. You could also consider installing another alternative browser. It does help in troubleshooting some problems to have another browser available.
There have been some very recent changes to the messageboard and access denied was one of the problems they hoped to have fixed. Try clearing the browser cache & cookies. I have myself tried a couple of random threads and accessed them without problem. If after clearing your cache you still have problems you could consider posting in the thread /forums/contributors/706222?last=32163#post-32016
- see also how to clear the cache
Yeah, thanks.
Hindsight is wonderful.
As I may have mentioned: Things started looking good and working the way I wanted with 16. Uploads would work with the "default" upload button on pages. I could program my new programmable remote.
Then, I updated to 17. Both those stopped working, and dispite my best efforts, still aren't.
I note you use a UK version did you find: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.16/win32/en-GB/
But as I said do not be surprised if it does not solve the problem.
When installing I recommend NOT using the delete data option, or however it is worded, that does remove all your data i.e. bookmarks passwords etc from all installed versions.
Note also you may do a custom install and have two versions of firefox on your system, buy it would normally then be wise to create an additional profile in an empty folder, and set up each version to use its own unique profile, currently that would usually entail using the profile manager.
Two versions would allow you to keep one version up-to-date, whilst retaining an old version compatible with logitech. (if indeed that is the problem)
John,
That is becuase (alas?) I was given that link.
I asked else where for the 6.16 version and someone gave me that link.
It wouldn't of been nice if I said I wanted the Yank version as well.
My question was only specifying I wanted the 6.16 version. I didn't know that there was a difference between the american and uk versions.
BTW, when I go to the "about" I get 3.6.16 on this machine.
Also I have a laptop. It was 3.6.14! I "upgraded it" to 3.6.16 from the link posted so any problems arising from going back would be negated. My remote still won't get programmed. :( Or at least I am sure that is the case.
Thing have been somewhat busy here.
If I understand what you are saying correctly it appears the Logitec programing is still a problem even with firefox 3.6.16, if so the problem could be with the site, maybe they can help you.
If it is the Yank version you wanted then for firefox 3.6.16 it is available from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.16/win32/en-US/
The differences are likely to be minor, for instance: the UK version spelling customize with an s as customise and having the BBC feed for latest headlines rather than I guess CNN .
John,
Not really. Though I realised my grammer is/was shocking: "It wouldn't of been nice if I said I wanted the Yank version as well. "
Should be "wouldn't have been nice.... " but anyway.
I prefere to spell colour with the u in it.
I am making slight progress with logitech but they want me to flush all my user data and start from scratch.
Yes, I appreciate there may be a need to do this, but I don't want to lose all my other data like passwords, cookies on site I visit etc for the sake of TRYING to resolve the problem.
That is only compounding the problem.
BTW, how do I search for my posts? I can only "find" this when you, or someone else, reply to it.
I can't find a "List my posts" button on the home page: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/new?product=desktop Going to the search and entering my "name" yield nothing.
