Upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1 and can no longer use my Norton Toolbar. How do I go back to my old and usable Firefox?

I utilize Norton Toolbar 4.6 and Firefox reports it is disabled because it is incompatible with Firefox 4.0.1. Since I utilize this functionality far more than any increased functionality in the new Firefox how can I go back to the previous version I was using? That was Firefox 3.6.17. Everything works and I am happy to wait until Norton supports the new version.

Chosen solution

Please do the following.

Go to Download Firefox v3.6.17 and download it to the desktop.

Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).

Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.

Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

Thank you. I now have the old Firefox back and all my Norton tools. I will also check the thread you gave me and upgrade when Norton is compatible. Great help. Thanks
