How do I import passwords from saved profiles from Firefox v3 to Firefox v4?

I have copied my Firefox v3 profile into a separate directory for the purpose of importing it (particularly the passwords!) into the new Firefox v4. However, it has a number of sub-dirs such as "chrome", "extensions", "gm scripts", gm scripts_08bak", "minidumps" and "bookmarks". I have successfully imported the bookmarks into Firefox v4 but have no idea how to import the passwords into Firefox v4 - I don't even know where in these sub-dirs the passwords are stored. So I really need help with this please!
