I am NOT INTERESTED in any social sites and or "let me be your friend" this is so invasive it is driving me nuts and makes any attempt to use FF unbearable.

Also constant "UNRESPONSIVE SCRIPT" we never used to have thiese problems can we get rid of them == I see nothing in the Prefs to let me stop this.

Sorry, that isn't a normal Firefox feature. You may have something installed that added that feature, or maybe it is a function of a web site or service you are logged into automatically.

Try the Firefox SafeMode.
A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)

  1. You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  2. Or use the Help menu item, click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled... while Firefox is running.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Your Firefox Safe Mode did nothing. I captured a screen shot and would like to send it to you so you can see for yourself -- send to billneill at yahoo dot com and I will reply with the attachment. I have uploaded it here also.

ALSO NOTE THE script problem endlessly a new script.

I am Apple G4 10.4.11 no virus detected. BTW this does NOT happen when I use Sea Monkey.

ALSO, you offer the alternate of using the Help Menu selecting Restart with Add-ons Disabled... BUT THERE IS NO SUCH ITEM TO SELECT.

Bill Neill.

Sorry, I gave you the wrong instructions for SafeMode, see this:

Yes your inst was wrong, it is OPTION key.

NOTE TO CORRECT: The first two times it did NOT GO TO SAFE MODE. The third time it did and a small 3 by 5 inch window said you are NOW IN SAFE MODE.

Instructions should be modified to YOU MUST see the 3 by 5 card saying you are now in safe mode OR YOU ARE NOT IN SAFE MODE.

Now that we are done with that, SAME PROBLEM NO CHANGE.

You have the pix.

Any ideas?
