Im using Firefox 5.1, though now the back/forward arrows (far left) have disappeared, they are now a grey colour and will not function, i.e. if I want to click back a page to check something, the arrow no longer works so I cannot do it. Ive tried everything - helpppppppppppp

Extensions that may cause problems, disable if present

  • McAfee Site Advisor
  • PC DiskSuite (not sure if it is an extension)
  • AVG Safe
  • (information on |Problematic extensions)

One of these may fix problem

  • create a bookmarks backup and restore it, may fix problems, I've never had to delete or rename my places.sqlite file yet, which would lose history, which is needed for the AwesomeBar to work properly or anything else that involves history.
    1. Ctrl+Shift+B to bring up Library List
    2. Import and Backup
    3. Backup to c:\temp\bookmarks-2011-08-14.json (or whatever current date is)
    4. Import and Backup
    5. Restore > choose file > c:\temp\bookmarks-2011-08-14.json
    6. see if problem is fixed

Another possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
