Just upgraded to FF 6.0 (or is that 4.2? :/), and got this message ""Java console is incompatible with Firefox 6.0". At first I thought it was because I was on Java 6.26, but after upgrading to 7 the problem is still there. A fairly glaring bug after so many BETAs...

Chosen solution

Unless you are a Java programmer with a specific need for the Java Console add-on, you can safely leave this add-on disabled and it should have no effect on your web browsing.

If you need to re-enable it, see this page for instructions: Re-enable add-ons that were disabled when updating Firefox

There's an easy solution. First uninstall both Java Runtime and Firefox and then:

1. Install again Java Runtime 6.27

2. Install FF 6.0.2

Now,the trouble is that FF doesn't see Java Runtime, so you go to Add-ons and you search for "Java Console" (search all add-ons), and you'll find "Java Console 5.0.12.99". Now, install this Java add-on even though it says it's incompatible with FF 6.0.2, and all web pages with Java will work. P.S. This was tested with Win XP Pro. P.P.S. It's not true that one doesn't need Java at all. I for example use one proggie which needs JVM inside my browser.
