Firefox crashes when I move mouse over History tab in Firefox 7.0.1. Why??

Whenever I move the mouse over the History menu in firefox 7.0.1, the programme just freezes, I get a spinning wheel on Win 7, if I click the programme, it dims and goes all white. After about a 20-30 seconds, everything goes back to normal, except I still can't access history. It does the same thing if I try again! It works if I press Ctrl+H, but that's it!

What's going on here?

Also, it doesn't seem to submit crash reports.

Chosen solution

I followed the link in cor-el 's post and installed the "places maintanance add-on" Did a check up and it cleaned out the history and I can click on the history tab again without everything freezing! Thanks

Would also like to let you know that the problem started when i used 'sync'.

When Firefox freezes, it's called a HANG (not a crash).

See the Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix article and try the suggestion in the first section, under Create a new places database.
