Cannot Logon To TypePad with FireFox 8.0.1

more options

I have been happily using FireFox for years and love it! Now, I cannot logon to Typepad with FireFox 8.0.1 - when I try, the logon screen just comes up again, as if nothing happened. There are no error messages. The problems seem to have started shortly after upgrading to FireFox 8.0.1 with HTTPS Finder.

I CAN logon with IE and with the FireFox running on my old netbook which is running XP.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on a vanilla HP dm3-1035dx laptop. We've had a continued problem with hacking - see http://ReportingWrongdoing.com

There might be a problem with cookies TypeFinder has stored on your computer.

You can remove individual cookies if you do not wish to clear all cookies stored on your computer.

To remove all cookies, in the Menu bar, go to Tools > Clear Recent History...

Please make sure to un-check everything you want to keep and then clear cookies. You might also want to clear the cache. Cache is stored data which makes visited sites faster to load; it is not vital information or information of a personal nature.

To remove individual cookies, in the Menu bar, go to Tools > Options.

In the Options window dialogue, go to Privacy > remove individual cookies. and remove the cookies related to TypePad.

Many, many thanks for your extensive reply! I've already done this several times, and it didn't help.

This morning I deleted Firefox completely, downloaded a new copy and then reinstalled it. The HTTPS-Finder was (and still is) deactivated several days ago.

What's so strange is when I try to logon to Typepad, I just get the logon screen over and over again, without an error, but httpS: comes up rather than http:

What could be forcing it to https rather than http?

The HTTPS-Finder may be causing a problem with Firefox 8.0.1 and Typepad.

I found I had to log into Typepad twice with the older version of Firefox and HTTPS-Finder. Now I can't log in at all. I can get in with IE 9.0 and an old netbook which runs XP. I don't want to use either of those systems, I want to use Firefox for my Typepad blog work.

Many thanks! Other ideas?
