On latest version of firefox i am trying to reanable google browse by names in the adress bar but no luck. I think some malware addon did a mess in the about:config. Setting the keyword.Url does not work anymore, keyword.enabled is true.

I am trying to get a solution different from resetting the about:config. Too many things set in there. I used this adress to set browse by names : http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=

I figured out the extension "instant fox" was overiding the pref. So i switched this off in instant fox settings. Working now.

Are you able to change the keyword.URL pref (i.e. do you keep the new value or does it get changed)?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
