Try to clear cache and cookies, see how in How to clear the cache and try again.

in the above link in Settings for Clearing History window check mark box next to Cookies too.

I tried everything you instructed. Still no sound. Is there anything else you can think of?

That is a Flash player, so make sure that you do not block Flash.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
