Firefox 10.0.2 won't work correctly (formatting, paragraphs, editing) with a forum I use
I use the community forum on Cakewalk.com and found that Firefox 10.0.2 does not allow for responding to the posts of others, nor does it allow for proper formatting of paragraphs when posting and often causes the forum to issue error messages.
I never had this problem with earlier versions and to verify that Firefox is the problem, I accessed the forum using Internet Explorer and found no problems.
Chosen solution
You should be able to define your own user agent.
You can find the current user agent on the Help > Troubleshooting Information page and modify that value.
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:9.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.2

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thanks for the reply, but it did not help. I followed your instructions and tried to re-post, but the same issue comes up. Never had this problem with Firefox 3 or IE, only this version.
Any other suggestions?

Did it ever work with a Firefox 10 version?
It is possible that the server doesn't recognize the Firefox 10 user agent and sends incompatible code and disable some features.
Try to modify the Firefox/10.0.2 in the user agent to Firefox/9.0.2 in case it fails on browser detection.
- User Agent Switcher: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/
If that works then you can contact the website to inform them that they need to revise their browser detection code.
I downloaded the User Agent Switcher and set it to I.E 8 and tried posting on the forum. It wouldn't allow me to post, so it kind of made the problem worse!
But perhaps I wasn't using the User Agent Switcher properly. I saw its entry under TOOLS and chose I.E. 8 and I.E.7 but neither worked.
Is there a setting in about:config that might do the trick?
Thanks for your help,
Jerry
I asked you to change the user agent to the previous Firefox 9.0.2 version and not to IE.
If you change the user agent to IE then you get JavaScript and CSS code that is meant for IE and probably won't work in Firefox.
I did not see other versions of Firefox as a choice in the User Agent Switcher; am I missing something?
Jerry
