My Mac is telling me "you cannot use the application 'firefox' with this version of MacOSX. Did Firefox do this without telling it's users what to do?

I have an iMac v. 10.4.11 OS X, with Intel Core 2 Duo and 1 GB memory. Apple is telling me to upgrade to their Snow Leopard OS and then upgrade to the Lion. Sound like a $$$ maker to me. Very frustrating to have Firefox just stop working like that.

Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and a Mac with an Intel processor.

You can disable the update to prevent this from happening again.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Update
