firefox won't load many sites, including mozilla after upgrade to v16. only way to mozilla site was with IE. ideas?

problem continues after downgrade to v4.0.1. message is: "The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression. Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem." Well, I'm contacting Mozilla.

I upgraded version by version, rebooting after each upgrade. problem was solved using version 12.0 and turning off automatic upgrade. All sites previously not loadable, including mozilla, are now available. problem has been solved.

You can check the network.http.* prefs on the about:config page.
Reset these user set (bold) network.http prefs to the default value via the right-click context menu -> Reset.

I upgraded version by version, rebooting after each upgrade. problem was solved using version 12.0 and turning off automatic upgrade. All sites previously not loadable, including mozilla, are now available. problem has been solved.
