I want to know why when everytime I go to help to update v 12.0, I get a message says my version is up to date when I know that a new version (16.0.2) is out?
This happens every time I go to the update function (Tools/Help/About Firefox/Check for updates). Since the version I am using (12.0) is occasionally freezing up and refusing to load pages effectively (requires a Firefox shutdown and then restart), and I know that beginning with version 15.0, this problem has been largely resolved, I do not understand why the update function refuses to see the new version and update as this program has ALWAYS done in the past. Something is wrong and I need to know why this occurs.

It could be the internal updater has been corrupted. Try to just go to www.getfirefox.com and download Firefox 16.0.2

If the updater became corrupted, what could be the most probable reason? I have downloaded v 16.0.2 but have not installed it yet as I was hoping to find out the reason why v12.0 would not update as is usually the case before I did upgrade.
Could be anything, add-ons, etc. Just install the 16.0.2, and then next week on Wednesday or later check for updates to 17.0.
