"The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred." when signing out of AOL/Netscape email
"The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred." when signing out of AOL/Netscape email would normally not be a problem if I did not have (2) Netscape.net email accounts I check....after I get this, I can get to my login page manually and try to log into my next Netscape.net email account and I get the same error WHEN LOGGING IN. I did NOT have this problem a couple months ago when I was still using my WIN XP SP3 Dell 8400 (vintage 2005) and it died...then I get my new Dell XPS 8500 with WIN 7 SP1 on it and notice the problem. I have waited since for new version updates to see if they fix the problem as I recall some AOL.com problem related to the 13-15 versions of FF. As of late I have just been opening IE 9 just to take care of my Netscape mails...I finally have decided to come here and see if anyone else has had this same problem and seem to be striking out. It is possible others have the same problem and don't care because they don't have multiple Netscape.net accounts (owned by AOL.com). If I close FF and reopen FF the problem isn't apparent when I get into my next account until again, logging off.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
Your suggestion did not work, but no doubt that had something to do with how MANY cookies and WHAT cookies come from any web site. The new news is, if I delete ALL cookies, log in and log out, I again can't log in. BUT if I re-delete ALL cookies and try to log in without restarting FF, I CAN GET IN...until I log off and get the error again. Apparently this shows that some cookie being SENT from AOL isn't compatible with FF. When I look at my cookies there are about 20 of them (couple are for this web page to be logged in).
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder
No, no. Clearing ALL THE COOKIES DOES work and I can log in again after logging off. But when logging OUT the problem reappears and can't log in again UNTIL I DELETE ALL COOKIES again. Do you still want me to follow instructions based on this?
Better yet, not sure if this is coincidence or not, but it is awfully suspicious...I was using my account and I got popped off my account automatically and locked out of my account because they think I am bulk emailing. Called and went through a bunch of security but my account is unlocked with a new password. Again using my account and get popped off again. Call AOL and guy says I'm logging in from multiple locations...hows that possible unless FF is screwing up since I have a new password and a new set of cookies. They want me to reboot...I finish my session with IE and experienced no further problems.
Yes. The cookies are kept in memory during the current session and are stored on disk in the cookies.sqlite file if you close Firefox.
So if it works during the current session, but not after closing and restarting Firefox then the cookies.sqlite file can be corrupted.
I was going to say "You da man..." but that lasted about 1 & 1/2 logins. So yes, I logged in, logged out and got taken to where I was supposed to be, logged in again, did what I needed, log out and boom, back to the same old error as well as can't log in till I either kill the cookies or restart FF.

This is what I did, the results are posted on my last reply Today at 5:15 PM and clearing all cookies result was posted 11/28/12 6:44 PM. Gone one step further since. Uninstalled and re-installed FF...same result.
Did you try to delete the cookies.sqlite file?
Cookies are usually kept in memory and may only be saved to disk when you close Firefox.
If that isn't working then you can get the same corrupted cookies when starting Firefox.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
You can also try to reset Firefox:
cookies.squite answer is Today at 5:15 PM .
New profile, same problem.
We've already established it is not a add-ons problem but obviously there will be less add-ons in this new profile to help exclude.
Since there is two PC profiles on the PC, I tried the second profile, same problem. Used the RESET FF function on the second PC profile...same thing...even followed the instruct for uninstall &re-install...same problem.
(3) different virus scanners, no hard core problems.
Suspect how I have something in Windows setup that no one else is using?
