How do I change the cashe drive?

more options

WinXP SP3, Firefox 17.0. Pentium 4: 1 CPU w/hyperthreading @ 2GHZ, 1.5GB RAM Firefox is installed on c: (plenty of empty disk space) Drive E: is a 4GB SSD which is mostly empty. (Actually a flash drive on an INTERNAL USB 2.0 port, so it is NOT removable. I don't care if multiple read/writes wear it out - it is a cashe drive, not for any kind of permanent storage.) I want to set the Cashe to E: for better performance

Hi,

You can try creating browser.cache.disk.parent_directory (string), and setting the appropriate path (E:) as the value in about:config.

about:config Entries

The Config Descriptions add-on adds helpful source comments in about:config.

Thanks for the help. It was not obvious to me how to create a new entry. Now why isn't it in alphabetical order?

You're welcome :) You can try clicking the Preference Name to sort it alphabetically. Also, you can start typing a preference name in the Search strip and continue typing to narrow down the results up to the exact match.
