Every time I click on a link in any Firefox window, one or two more Firefox windows pop open. Sometimes, it's a blank screen, other times I get 4 tabs with garbage. Tab 1 has the following address:

http://www.^þ!“Þ•øÀŽÑµo%1f'¬æ%28?Ñ.ªgô?/%C3%BDF%C3%B9%28%C6%92%C2%BA%C6%92N%E2%80%9C%C3%B8%E2%80%A21%C2%A9%E2%80%9D%C3%8F%C3%A7%C3%9B%3C%C2%A10%C3%92%C3%85%18%28CI

Tab 2 has this one:

http://www.ó»p??ì;”¬lkùy7=¢¾ñãð?Ø`¶6p%28jü~p?y?Õ?Úg™Ö%29a˜n%28šÅÀ`©.com/

Tab 3 has this one:

file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Michael%20Hinton/

Tab 4 has no address.

Any help appreciated!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
