I am not able to attach documents with Firefox 20. Using Window 7, Yahoo (not the Classic). Began on 4/8/13 and suspect the new update with Firefox 20. Can attach if I switch to Yahoo Classic version and I can attach with Yahoo (not the Classic) and IE

I was able to attach a JPG and a DOC file.

Could you describe the step where attaching is failing for you? Does the file browser dialog come up so you can choose a file?

Does it matter what kind of file you try to attach?

Do you get any error message?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove your yahoo.com cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?

I am not able to attach any documents - doc xls, jpg gif The attachment fails after I select the document and return to Yahoo. Browser comes up to select the file I did clear the Firefox cache and lost my cookies. Not willing to clear the Yahoo cookies - but might try that.

Usually it's okay to clear a site's cookies unless they are remembering irreplaceable data, for example, if you've forgotten your password and are not going to be able to get back in.

In my test, I only tried small files, I didn't try anything approach a 25MB file. Are you able to attach small files?

I cleared the Yahoo cookies, closed and reopened my mail and it had no effect. All the attachments that I tried were less than 1 MB

I misunderstood the "of 25MB" part of the image. Maybe that's Yahoo's maximum allowance.

The typical next step is to try to rule out a conflicting add-on. A standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode. More info on Safe Mode: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

To start in Safe Mode you can use:

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."

If uploads works correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the likely culprit.

If there's no difference, you could also test for a plugin conflict by disabling those here:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category

You probably have to reload the page or start a new message to test that change.

Any difference?

I have the same problem and tried all the suggested fixes. None worked.

I even started Firefox in the safe mode and found it would upload a jpg, show it was uploaded, but not display a thumbnail version I then sent that test e-mail to myself. When it arrived, there was no jpg.

Up until two days ago, there was no problem in uploading photos to yahoo mail, so something's changed in Firefox since then.

And yes, "allow Javascript in the browser" is turned on in my Java panel.
