How can I set Firefox on my tablet/phone to open an external app such as Youtube or Google Play Store?

Currently when I click a link such as a Youtube Video or an Play Store Application, Firefox does not open the link inside of the external application but rather opens the link inside of Firefox. I have tried clearing the defaults in the external apps, such as Youtube and Play Store, and Firefox but the result is the same. This happens on my phone was well as my tablet, I'm running Android 4.2.2 on both devices. I have tried other browsers and they all open the link in the external application or at least ask me what I would like to open the link with.

hello bhelm1, google would need to adapt its page a little bit & treat firefox on android as a mobile browser. see the reply by kbrosnan at https://support.mozilla.org/questions/961564#answer-444901.
