i can't use the shift key or ctrl keys in firefox anymore. if i press the shift key, it works exactly like clicking the back arrow. if i use the ctrl key, the window zooms out. i have tried closing out of all firefox windows and re-opening them and rebooting my computer. neither had any effect.

hello gschulz, are you scrolling with your mouse at the same time (shift & downscroll will go back in the history, ctrl+downscroll will decrease the zoom level)? maybe also test it with different hardware...

I wasn't touching the mouse at the time. I'll try it with different hardware.

You nailed it. It seems to have been my wireless keyboard. I don't know if a key was stuck or what it was, but the issue went away when I disconnected both the mouse and keyboard.

I have the same problem and I am not using my mouse while hitting shift key- have uninstalled and reset firefox over 3 times. I have tried in IE and do not have the issue.
