I need to download a data file with a .dat extension from a web page link, but when I click on it it opens Quicktime. I looked in Preferences-Applications to try to change the handling of .dat files, but I don't see any entry for them. How can I make this give me the option to save the file instead of opening Quicktime?

You can right-click the link to the .dat file and use "Save Link As" to save the the .dat file to the hard drive.

Thanks. That worked. For some reason I didn't notice the option when I right-clicked before.
