certain videos won't play at Youtube, they just display a black screen without a start button. One solution I read was to uninstall/reinstall Firefox but I really don't want to lose all my add-ons and extensions and have to start all over! Any other solutions to this problem?

You have a few different add-ons that could affect how Youtube works, including Adblock Plus and DoNotTrackMe and 5 different downloaders. Could you try creating exceptions for youtube.com in Adblock Plus and DoNotTrackMe to see whether that makes a difference?

Try the Options buttons for these extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.

Also, Adblock Plus is now much more up-to-date than Updated Ad Blocker for Firefox 11+, so you can remove that one.

It turned out to be Flashgot 1.5.5.94 that had started causing this problem. I disabled a bunch of my download add-ons plus updated adblocker. I enabled them one at a time and the flashgot was the only one causing this problem. thanks to both of you for your excellent and speedy assistance. This is one of the many reasons I won't use any other browser!
