Chosen solution

Do you mean the Bookmarks sidebar?

  • Toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or Ctrl+B (Command+B on Mac)
  • Toggle the History sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > History" or Ctrl+H (Command+H on Mac)

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file if the sidebar doesn't stay open after (re)starting Firefox.

I'm beginning to find this constant re-designing of firefox very annoying. Each upgrade I have to hunt around to find out how to do stuff I never had a problem with. I think these "upgrades" have nothing to do with actually improving anything - it's just fashion. Why replace that star that used to signal the bookmarks sidebar with ctrl-B? Is it easier? Faster? No, it's nonsense, just busy work for your web designers.
