I was trying to configure the way firefox connects to the internet, using the proxy details of my university that I've been using with several other devices (laptop with windows xp; smart-phone with android, etc). But every time I try to access a web page an error message appears: "You cannot access XXXYYYZZZ until you have authenticated yourself". The problem is that I was expecting the authentication box to pop up when I try to connect, but it does not. Actually, I don't know how to authenticate. Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance.

Collect the following information:

  1. Correct proxy details of your university.
  2. Username/password combination required to use your university's proxy.

Then follow these steps:

  1. Orange Firefox button-Options-Advanced-Network.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Manual proxy configuration.
