After I allowed the Java update to install, it asked if I wanted to import to Internet Explorer and I said clicked on "don't import anything," b/c I do not use internet explorer.

Then I brought up my Firefox browser & discovered it no longer had my history or bookmarks, etc or my personalized toolbar!!! I spent a lot of time setting it up and I really depend on my bookmarks and history. I really, really need the info I have stored there. Is there any way to get it back?

If you got the import wizard then this means that Firefox didn't find a profiles.ini file, so something may have gotten wrong with this file.

Do you still have a profile folder in the usual location (%AppData%\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\)?

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Note that the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Window 7+ versions and the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K are hidden folders.

If your previously used default profile is still present then use the Profile Manager to create a new profile and click the Choose Folder button and browse to that lost profile folder to re-register it and make Firefox use it.

If you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop then try to recover your personal data from this folder.
