My New Tab options indicate financial tabs, and how do I get rid of them?

I use the Mozilla Firefox Start Page, with the Google indicator. When I click the plus sign for a New Tab I receive a display of Most Wanted, which will include ABE, Amazon, TCM, UCSB Dept. of Music, Google, 3 Union Bank sites, and 1 B of A site. It is alright for ABE, Amazon, TCM, and UCSB Dept. of Music to be displayed, but how do I delete from this page Google, and the bank sites? And what about any others that might come up?

I assume that you are talking about the 9 (3x3) tiles on the about:newtab page.

See this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):

You can block websites by clicking the X or drag a bookmark or history item in a tile to pin a specific web page to the tile.

Changes made manually on the about:newtab page are stored in the browser.newtabpage.pinned (default = [null]) and browser.newtabpage.blocked prefs that you can check/modify on the about:config page.
