I have just bought a new computer with windows 8 and wish to transfer my passwords on to it but I cant get it to sync. I have set up an account and windows 7 gives me the page to pair a device and the code to put in. The new computer under sync gives my firefox account page and Iclick all the sync tabs click ok and it takes me to change password or delete acct and doesnt give me the place to put the code in. at no stage can i find a chance to pair the device on Windows 8.

Firefox has changed from sync to Firefox accounts. Please update to version 29 on your windows 7 computer, and then visit about:accounts in the url bar to get set up with Firefox Accounts.

You can backup data on the old computer and use an USB drive to transfer files that you need

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

For the passwords you need the signons.sqlite and key3.db files.
