How to insert inline image into email, and them make it a clickable link?

Gmail can insert a picture inline rather than an attachment, and then can make it a clickable link. Can this be done with Firefox, or with Thunderbird?

How do you access your Gmail now?

Firefox is limited to the tools provided by your email site. So Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook, for example, may or may not have this option when you compose your message in Firefox or in other browsers.

In Thunderbird, I think it would be a two step operation to insert the image (either using a menu, or you could try drag-and-drop from a local folder, or copy/paste from a website) then select it and assign the link. However, I haven't tested it (I don't have it on this PC).
