Recently changed from 1&1 to Bluehost, kept same email address but obviously changed account settings. Now in Thunderbird all the old directories and saved email has disappeared in Thunderbird. Why? How do I get them back? The old host account was IMAP as is the new one. I really need the directories and the saved email, which by now is most likely gone from the old server. Already checked here the 'Moving Your Profile Folder' and 'Recovering a Profile That Suddenly Disappeared' articles and they did not seem to have the solution. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

IMAP is server based. You should have saved copies of your email to the Local Folders of Thunderbird on your computer before switching server. If the old hosting service has cleared the messages off the server there is not much you can do now. You might contact them to see if the data is still available.
