When I click on links, "like" buttons, other buttons I get a drop down menu

This problem is intermittent but happens daily. When I click on links, buttons, "like" buttons, I get a drop down menu. The drop down menu is inappropriate and does not help me do what I am trying to do. I click in another spot and sometimes the same drop down appears there. Eventually, I get it to stop happening and then I can click on the item and have it function.

I am running Mozilla Firefox on an iMac computer. My OSX is 10.9.5. My Firefox is 37.0.2

I am trying to upload a screen shot of the problem, drop down menu but that is not apparently working.

Does the drop-down menu display what you would expect on a right-click? I realize that a very Windows-centric way to ask the question; on Mac, it probably would be Control+click or a long press (click and hold) menu.

If that's what you're seeing, there might be a problem with how Firefox is reading your keyboard state. Sometimes pressing a button (like the Control button) several times in succession will clear that problem.

It IS what I get when I "right" click on the mouse! Hmm.

I will give this a try. Do you think it my be "where" I am clicking on my Mouse? Hasn't been an issue until recently.

I will try the pressing Control button in success.

I am pleased to have _something_ to try.

If you have a "magic" mouse or one of the newer trackpads, there may well be multiple invisible zones that do different things.
