How can I uninstall an update that will be installed on restart?

I just refreshed Firefox after a crash when things stopped working and it took me a day to get everything back to how it was before. I use an older version because some things in a newer version do not work well with my older OS or with me.... But stupid me forgot to check that Firefox does not install updates for newer versions. So when I will restart, I'm upgraded to a newer version that I do not want to be installed. Is there a way to simply remove these pending updates without the need to restart and then uninstall and reinstall the older version - and having to go through re-tweaking once more?

Under Advanced, Select Update. Check the settings.

Uninstall Firefox from your computer {web link}
DO NOT remove your profiles. After, install the Firefox that you want.
