Why does Firefox play no sound in MP4 videos?
Hey there,
I have this exact problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1068375
But I have it under Windows and it does not sound like the given solution applies. Could someone tell me what an equivalent solution in Windows would be?
All the best, FP

Is this with all websites, some, a few?
See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
Dear Fred,
the exact same examples as in the linked post also do not play any sound for me. On the other hand, Youtube videos play with sound just fine. I made sure that all my drivers are up to date and the problem persists nonetheless.
Also, this page: https://www.youtube.com/html5
displays that my browser is incapable of the following methods/codecs:
- H.264
- MSE & WebM VP9
However, I do not know how to change that.
Are you using the computer's speakers? Try using an ear piece.
Open the computer's Volume Control. Check the settings. (Control Panel)

Dear cor-el, unfortunately the linked page is not helping. I do not have a missing plugin, the video plays but there is no sound.

Dear Fred, the problem is most certainly not my speakers. I have, however, tried my earpiece as well. It does not change anything. Note that, for example, youtube videos play flawlessly with sound, both on my speakers and my earpiece.
