Why does the server delete my data if I get a password reminder for Sync, instead of keeping them?
Right after reinstalling my computer, I forgot my password for Sync.
The Password Reset feature promises that if I request a password reset link then it will delete all the data I store on the server. I don't want to lose that data, actually, I want to access it.
I don't really understand why is it needed to delete that data. Could anyone explain it to me, please?
I would like to see my bookmarks at least, but if it is possible then I would like to keep my opened tabs as well, togerther with other data sore via Sync. I don't mind if it deletes all the browser data from the current installation, beng after a system reinstall, it would be totally fine.
Thanks.

The password is used to generate an encryption key that is used locally to encrypt your personal data before uploading it to the Sync server. Without this specific password it is not possible to decrypt this data and that is why changing to password of the Sync password will remove all data stored on the Sync server. Only when you provide the correct password then you could access this data. That is why you have to make sure that you do not forget the password of the Sync account.
