A blog I posted to for the first time from Firefox was able to access my Facebook profile and link my post to it. How do I prevent this from happening?

When I clicked on "Publish" after writing my post, I was expecting to have to identify myself. I was quite surprised when the site automatically identified me and posted information from my Facebook profile. I had not logged in using Facebook (never do), nor clicked any Facebook related icon of the "Like" type.

I barely use Facebook, don't trust it, and definitively don't want websites to be able to access this information from my browser. How can I prevent this from ever happening again?

Hi Majic

I strongly recommend that you have a read of this article about a new add-on for Firefox Quantum that we are releasing today that should be exactly what you are looking for.

I hope that this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

A lot of sites use Facebook for their comments system. If you never want sites to know your FB identity, you might not be able to post comments on those sites.

I want to be able to decide if a website has access to my Facebook info, not just have it available for any website to use!

Yes, that's the best policy. Did you check out the add-on that Seburo linked to?
