does not remember passwords
One of my passwords will not be remembered by Thunderbird..I have deleted it in the security saved passwords and now cannot add it nor will it be rembered...it asks for the password but it does not save..I read I might have to change a setting in About:config but I cannot find what line to change (did not understand the other possible fix of changing in note pad or something like that ). Can you tell me the line I should change in about:config and what it should be set to. It worked great until Cox had an issue today. I am getting emails but cannot send because it wants my password each time. Thank you in advance..

Thank you for your reply and help..to clarify I have the version 61 of FIREFOX and the ver 59 of THUNDERBIRD..never realized they were separate things. In any event, oddly last night I found out that our Cox server was down most of the day and I believe that was the reason I could not get on email and have it save my passwords. A lesson to learn,.make sure your provider server is up and working!
I checked my Thunderbird menu>options> Security>Passwords tab>Saved passwords and now there is a saved password for all my email accounts for both .imap and .smtp..again thank for your help..hopefully our conversation will help others.Pročitajte ovaj odgovor sa objašnjenjem 👍 0

It also started after version 61 was installed. It is asking me for the smpt password..I enter and it sends but does not remember it in te options section of saved passwords so asks me every time I try to send.

I never got a reply and somehow it corrected but now again 9/4/2018 thunderbird will not remember the .imap passwords..the list shows .smpt but no .imap..any suggestions. If I enter the password for each email as requested- it just keeps giving me the same message..even if I check the use manager to save.
re :started after version 61 was installed.
If you had version 52.9.1 which was the previous release, then it should not have auto updated. The current release which you would have to download from official webpage is version 60.
If you have a version 61 then you must be using some beta version.
Exit Thunderbird. Suggest you uninstall program via 'Control Panel' > Programs and Features' Then download version 52.9.1 from here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/52.9.1/
Assuming you use Windows OS...click on 'win32' Select prefered language eg: en-GB = English British Then click on 'Thunderbird Setup 52.9.1.exe ' to download exec file and install.
