Firefox will not let me see ANYTHING on youtube. Why?

more options

When I try to go to youtube, this is what it says.

Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to youtube.com because this website requires a secure connection.

What can you do about it?

youtube.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it.

This is recent. What the heck happened?

Hi phyleaux_1, if you expand the error message (check for an Advanced or More Info button), can you find a SEC_ERROR code or similar code that is covered in this article:

How to troubleshoot security error codes on secure websites

If it's not obvious, let us know what you see.

This is what it says after clicking advanced.

Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue.

Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust youtube.com because its certificate issuer is unknown, the certificate is self-signed, or the server is not sending the correct intermediate certificates.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER View Certificate

Do any of the potential culprits in the article I linked before sound potentially relevant?

Also, if you click the "View Certificate" link and look at the "Issued by" section, does it mention "Google Internet Authority G3"?
