As a new TB user I notice that the setting "Check for new messages every xx minutes" does not work. My mails are read from a yahoo account and TB reads them upon startup. My account is setup as IMAP. I have set the parameter to 10 minutes but after after 10 minutes my new mails are not read/checked, unless I navigate on a specific folder and force reading/synchronization. Please help me to understand what goes wrong and how to solve this problem.

Try lowering the time interval to 5 minutes, then check/tick the option after it to enable immediate server notifications. Also, go to Help > Troubleshooting Information > Copy text to clipboard and paste it in your next reply. This will tell us more about your environment and save us a myriad of questions.
