Drag & Drop Attachment from Outlook to Webbrowser Not Working

more options

When working in a Service Desk website, trying to drag an email attachment from Outlook into the attachment field of the webpage does not work. The attachment field responds as though it will work, but then no attachment appears. Downloading and dragging the attachment from the desktop DOES work, but the client wants to be able to just drag from the email directly.

I have tested the same procedure in Chrome, Safari and Microsoft Edge and they all work, so the problem must be Firefox. Version: 102.5.0esr (64-Bit)

The client will temporarily use Edge, but Firefox is the preferred browser, so I really hope you have a suggestion.

Addendum: As I stated in my answers to the two replies that I got, this problem is occurring on Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 - 19045.2364 and with macOS Big Sur 11.7.2 (personal computer).

I upgraded Firefox to the latest version on the macOS yesterday, but the problem persisted. I also upgraded Firefox on one of the Windows machines here at the University, but again, the problem persisted. Later, I will upgrade Firefox on a Windows machine not connected to the university's network, just to make sure.

I just discovered something interesting as I tested dragging the email attachment from web-based email accounts - personal outlook, work outlook and gmail that were accessed from Chrome, Edge and also from Firefox. Dragging and Dropping the email attachment into the form did not work on any of the browsers.

If there is anything that I can do to help with the troubleshooting process, please let me know.

Since we do not have access to the site, you should have compared a current version Firefox since you're using current versions of the other browsers. Did you also try dragging from the desktop? What version of macOS?

Your Mac OS X 10.15.7 version should support the current 108.0 release. Did you update your MacOS from a 10.9-10.11 version as that might explain that you have 102.5.0 ESR ? Current releases require Mac OS X 10.12 or newer.

You can find the full installer of the current Firefox release (108.0) in all languages and all operating systems here:

I'm sorry, I made a mistake. I should have explained that I am researching the problem for Windows OS - Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 - 19045.2364. The issue does also exist on my personal computer (from which I took the screenshots)

The Chrome version installed on the Windows Computers is Version 108.0.5359.125 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit) and the Edge version is Version 108.0.1462.54 (Offizielles Build) (64-Bit).

I did state that downloading and dragging from the desktop does work.

I am working at a university that uses Matrix42 Empirium to manage over 1,000 Windows-Based Laptops and PCs. I was, however, able to duplicate the issue on my personal computer (from which I took the screenshots).

Thank you so much for this information. I will speak to our team about updating our version of Firefox.

@cor-el, I shared the link to this website with another person who is having the same problem. She reported that she upgraded to the latest version of Firefox and she continues to have the issue with Dragging and Dropping from the Outlook emails. Hopefully, she will write in herself and give the pertinent information to help you troubleshoot the issue more thoroughly.

Regards
